From Zero to Fifty's

The Chevrolet Corvette from '52 to '63

This is the Final Project for HONR269J. The purpose is to take a look at the Chevrolet Corvette and how it evolved during the 1950's.

The Chevy Corvette rose from designer Harley Earl's vision of an American sports car. Based on the small racing cars by Jaguar, Alpha Romeo and Ferrari, the Corvette was Chevy's, and indeed, America's forray into the roadster market. Borne out of a nation's new need for speed and new highway system, the Corvette fit perfectly into the culture of the 1950's. It's styling shifted only slightly throughout the 1950's, changing - as much of the the rest of the nation was - in 1963.
