Parker was released from Camarillo State Hospital on January 31, and these recordings were made at a party at Chuck Kopely's house on February 1. After the party, Ross Russell renewed Parker's Dial contract and took Kopely's acetate masters and eventually released them on Dial LP 905.

The sound quality of the first three items is poor. The first two are combined as a single item (1:49) on Philology. The beginning and the end of the third "Home Cookin'" are missing on Stash, Spotlite, and Definitive. On all of these items there are speed fluctuations that are very hard to correct.

"Home Cookin' I" is based on "'S Wonderful," "Home Cookin' II" is based on "Cherokee," and "Home Cookin' III" is based on "I Got Rhythm."
