Parker was joined by Tadd Dameron's Big Ten for a month-long engagement. Leonard Hawkins was on trumpet for the first week, but Miles Davis replaced him on subsequent broadcasts from the Roost (February 19 and 26, and March 5). Many of these fine recordings are collected on Philology Volume 20 (W 850).

Some collections of the Parker Roost broadcasts (e.g. Savoy SJL 2260, Nippon Columbia COCY-75791/8 and COCB-50405/8) include an announcement by Bob Garrity into a commercial break by Sid for Snow White face powder, and another intro by Garrity into an announcement by Sid in which he mentions the upcoming debut of the "Sunday afternoon Symphony Sid bop concerts." These items cannot belong here. They are most likely from September 1948 Roost broadcast of the Miles Davis Nonet.
