1 My Man's Gone Now (master (take 3)) (D. Heyward-G. Gershwin) 6:14
2 Gone (rehearsal) (G. Evans) 2:53

Evans: "It's ah, seven choruses." Unkn: "Right into F, right? At seven choruses, at F?" Evans: "That's right -- seven choruses, you go into F..." Davis: "Let me know, Gil... Let me know." Evans: "There's a pickup, of course... Real snap (sings). Ready?" They play (0:17-0:38). Evans: "Miles, get your part, huh?" (sings). They play (0:46-1:46). Evans: "OK..." Lampley: "It's 'Gone', take three..." Evans: "And don't forget the rhythms comin' down -- the trumpets are too loud by the time you get to the bottom. OK, here we go..." They play (2:05-2:15, faded out). Davis: "Calvin! Let Gil kick it off in there..." Lampley: "Yes... OK." Evans: "Miles is gonna kick it off..." Lampley: "OK, stand by, this'll be 'Gone, Gone, Gone, Gone' -- take... four. Gil's coming out, so pause." Unkn: "This is just 'Gone', isn't it?" Evans: "This is just 'Gone', ah..." Lampley: "Yes, just 'Gone', just 'Gone', really, it's CO 61301, OK?" Cut off during Evans count off
3 Gone (take 3) (G. Evans) 3:37
4 Gone (take 4) (G. Evans) 3:39
5 Gone, Gone, Gone (rehearsal) (D. Heyward-G. Gershwin-I. Gershwin) 2:57

Evans: "All right, hold it. That goes on too long. Make that one bar -- one bar and one beat, and make it a decrescendo. The reason I have it is that we're coming over from another tune. And there's a little more of a swell... (sings) Three, four..." They play (0:22-1:21). Evans: "Bar 11, huh? You can help me there, real slow, like the intro." Davis: "Goddamn..." (Splice) They play (1:27-1:58). Unkn: "Gil, you skipped a part. You skipped that part at 17 there..." Evans: "Bar 17? Well, I tell ya, put a bird's eye over... (Splice) They play (2:09-2:45). Evans: "That's what I like, there -- must be soft as you can play. That's the place that once we stay soft and beautiful... Now you see, you have to make -- shhh! -- I must have your attention. You must make your own changes on 21 and 22, so I'll give you the downbeat for each bar."
6 Gone, Gone, Gone (master (take 8)) (D. Heyward-G. Gershwin-I. Gershwin) 2:03
7 Studio chatter 0:37

Lampley: "You wanna try to make a fast rhythm 'Gone'?" Davis: "Lordy..." Unkn: "This is just 'Gone' now, is that right?" Evans: "Just plain 'Gone'..." Davis: "No, I wanna preach some more..." (he plays) Evans: "Now don't forget to pick up the trombones behind Miles at letter C..."
8 Gone (master (take 5)) (G. Evans) 3:51

Lampley: "OK, here we go. This is 'Gone', take five..." Evans: "You guys count the Miles choruses to come in... You're all set. Here we go..." (counts off)" At the end Lampley says, "Thank you, men. Don't be leavin' till you've signed the W-2..."
