Parker has serious reed problems throughout this session. During a taped interview several years later (May 1, 1950), Parker tells an amusing story: Rubberlegs Williams accidentally drank Parker's coffee, which had been spiked with benzedrine. Listen as Williams's singing gets increasingly urgent as the session progresses. Eventually Trummy Young replaced him.

"4-F Blues" and "G.I. Blues" are two takes of the same tune.
