1 I'll Remember April (incomplete)
12" LP: Bird Box 01-22 LP 14
CD: New Sound Planet JUTB 3011, Sound Hills SSCD 8027, Philology Volume 33 (W 864), Frémeaux & Associés FA 1341

There is a tenor saxophone audible in the ensemble, but there is no solo.

Uptown 27.42, which includes a complete afternoon broadcast from the Hi-Hat (December 14, 1952), suggests a December 1952 date for this tune. The session is sometimes dated April 1951, but this can't be right. See H. Lucas Lindenmaier and Horst J. Salewski, The Man Who Never Sleeps: The Charles Mingus Discography 1945-1978.

Many discographies list the location as Christy's in Framingham (assuming that the date is April 1951), but this is clearly a different group than that performing at Christy's.

Parker was booked at Boston venues on the following dates during this period: April 12, 1951, Christy's Tavern, Framingham; May 28-June 3, 1951, Hi-Hat Club; March 3-9, 1952, Hi-Hat Club; December 8-14, 1952, Hi-Hat Club; March 9-15, 1953, Storyville Club; June 8-14, 1953, Hi-Hat Club; September 21-27, 1953, Storyville Club; October 25, 1953, Jordan Hall (Parker with Strings, hosted by John McCLellan); January 18-24, 1954, Hi-Hat Club; February 9, 1954, Worcester Memorial Auditorium, Worcester (Festival of Modern American Jazz -- thanks to Jon Foley for identifying the venue); September 26, 1954, Boston Arena (Birdland Stars of 1954).
