This is the third of three studio sessions that Davis participated in on this date. It is Rollins' debut as a leader on Prestige, recorded at the end of the Apex Studio session with Davis' Sextet, with Davis replacing John Lewis on piano. "I Know" is based on Charlie Parker's "Confirmation." Rollins plays an inventive three-chorus solo, and Davis' accompaniment is unobtrusive but competent.
