This is a low-quality recording that begins after the theme. The entire Parker solo (five choruses) is intact, and Gillespie's solo is faded out in the middle of his fourth chorus.

It is possible that in the audience at this performance were two young Philadelphia musicians, a not-quite-19-year-old John Coltrane and his almost-17-year-old friend Benny Golson. Coltrane would later say, "the first time I heard Bird play, it hit me right between the eyes" (interview with Don DeMichael in Down Beat, September 29, 1960, p. 26).
